How to enjoy St.Thomas in 3 Days
The US Virgin Islands is a sliver of Caribbean islands known for its white sandy beaches, vibrant reefs, and in my personal experience, delicious island cocktails.
Day 1 - Basking in French Bay, Shopping in Charlotte Amalie, & a killer sunset
Begin your first day in St. Thomas by visiting French Bay, a secluded beach located on the south side of the island. Here, you can relax and soak up the sun while enjoying stunning views of the Caribbean Sea.
French Bay is a beautiful, secluded beach located on the south side of St. Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands. The beach is nestled in a cove, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation and rocky cliffs that provide a natural barrier from the winds and waves of the Caribbean Sea. The beach is relatively small, with soft white sand and calm, clear waters that are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The water is so blue and gorgeous you really get that “I’m in the Caribbean vibe”.
Here’s a picture of me watching a grown man try to impress a woman by dancing on his sailboat. He then slipped on the hull and fell into the water, hilarious.
French Bay is known for its quiet and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for those seeking to escape the crowds of more popular beaches on the island. The beach is accessible only by boat or by hiking a steep, rocky trail, adding to its secluded and tranquil feel. French Bay visitors often enjoy swimming, sunbathing, picnicking, and exploring the nearby trails and natural beauty of the area.
While French Bay does not have any facilities, such as restrooms or food vendors, this is part of its charm and appeal to those seeking a more natural and authentic beach experience. I would recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks. With its stunning beauty, peaceful ambiance, and secluded location, French Bay is a hidden gem on the island of St. Thomas that is well worth a visit.
Afterward, head to Charlotte Amalie, the capital city of St. Thomas, to explore its historic buildings, quaint shops, and colorful markets. Don't miss the opportunity to sample some of the island's local cuisine, like grilled conch or a saltfish pate. The conch is my favorite it’s super fresh! End your day with a visit to Bakkero, a picturesque hillside neighborhood that offers breathtaking views of the island. This is the perfect place to finish off your first day with a true St. Thomas sunset.
Day 2 - Red Hook & Paradise Point
Start your second day in St. Thomas with a trip to Red Hook, a charming town located on the eastern end of the island. I have had some AWESOME days in Red Hook. Here, you can shop for souvenirs, grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants, or hop on a ferry to one of the nearby islands, such as St. John or, if you’re feeling frisky, the British Virgin Islands.
Next, head to Coki Point Beach, this is a super popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and, of course, sunbathing. This beautiful beach is home to some of the island's most vibrant marine life, including colorful tropical fish you’ve never seen before and lots and lots of coral.
Afterward, take a ride on the Sky Ride to Paradise Point, where you'll enjoy stunning views of the island from 700 feet up. I got some dinner and a popular island cocktail, the infamous Bushwacker, and it did not disappoint! This view of the island is gorgeous and just another fabulous place for a perfect island sunset.
Day 3 - Magens Bay, Brewers Bay, &
On your last day on the island, start by visiting Magens Bay Beach, a world-renowned beach that is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful in the WORLD. Here, you can swim in crystal-clear waters, lounge on the soft sand, and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding hillsides.
Next, head to Brewers Bay Beach, a quiet and secluded spot that is perfect for a peaceful day of relaxation. Finally, end your day at Iggy's Bar, a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. Here, you can enjoy a refreshing drink while listening to live music and taking in the island's laid-back vibe. I really love Iggy’s it’s a treasure of the island.
In just three days, you can experience some of the best that St. Thomas has to offer, including stunning beaches, historic sites, delicious cuisine, and unforgettable views! It’s the perfect recharge trip.
Don't forget to bring your sunscreen, your sense of adventure, and your appetite for all things Caribbean!
